about

This song was revealed to us while staring up at the Northampton, MA night sky with heads tilted back as we gripped swing set chains at a park. The stars were especially bright that evening and, like most of our songs, the words just appeared. We had spent an entire day on an It's About Good retreat to Northampton a few days before our first day of recording "Clarity." This trip involved deep metaphysical discussion, solitary song writing time, spontaneous public performances, and prayer and meditation. Writing "Follow the Star" was certainly the culmination of a day dedicated to praising God.

The lyrics focus around the birth of Christ Jesus, but also allude to the source of light that Christ is for all of us. So frequently the universality of Christ Jesus is lost in the popular dogma about Christianity. That is why we included every Biblical term for God that Mary Baker Eddy identifies in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. The one synonym not found in the Bible, Principle, is replaced by "star" which is applicable with the definition either as "a fixed, luminous point" or even "principal performer."

Again, to try to expand the timeless importance of Christ coming to earth, the songs travels from the Bethlehem manger to the book of Revelation (very influential in many of the lyrics on this album).

Knowing that we're all being led by the Star of Christ, Light, is a much needed message right now for individual listeners and for communities and countries around the world. There is only one Star, one goal, one direction to follow. Although it's path is straight and narrow, it is waiting for all of us. No need to rush others, become impatient or feel like we're passing others up on this journey. Keep your eyes on the Star and keep traveling. It's the same sky for all of us - one Star, one Son. —Michael

lyrics

Matthew 2: 9-10
Science and Health 112:16-22
Science and Health 587:5-8

There is one Mind.
There is one Love in my Life.

Follow the Star.
Follow the Star.
Follow the Star.
It will lead you home,
the song the angels sang.
It is grace alone.
It was the way we came.

Anointed with the oil of gladness
from on high into a manger.
For the love of humankind
the way is straight and paved with light.
Just look up to the sky.

Our home is in the light
We're in heaven tonight.

Angels sang this song:
"A child is born.”
“And his name is Wonderful.” (Isaiah 9:6)

Truth.
There is one Spirit, Soul.

Follow the star.
It will lead you home,
the song the angels sang.
It is grace alone.
Just like on Christmas day.

The seven seals are gone:
“Thy kingdom come.”
Angels sang this song:
"A son is given."

This is His revelation.
