about

This is a special track. We got this beat from producer Austin Taylor a while back, and I immediately felt and heard the chorus. I wanted this song to make practical the concept of reflection and oneness in Spirit. The chorus is, essentially, something I would love to be able to say to each and every person I've ever met. But, again, my time in New York led me to an experience that heavily influenced the lyrics. The first verse is about an encounter I had with someone at a hotel in Manhattan. I was at a networking event through the startup company I was a part of at the time, and after the event had ended I saw this girl sitting at the bar with her hands in the air and her eyes closed. Immediately I thought to myself, "Wow. What is this all about?" So I went up to her and asked her what she was doing. She slowly opened her eyes and looked over at me: "I'm meditating." So we got into this ultra-deep discussion about metaphysics and Native-american ceremonies and spirituality and the whole time I was fighting the urge to handle this experience the way I often had in the past. I was trying to keep my thought focused the whole time on our relationship in Christ, our innocence and our child-likeness and what it was that really attracted us to one another. As the song says, I was experimenting with really living Christian Science rather than just repping it because I grew up in it. And that means an imperative for a moral foundation in all relationships.

The second verse explains a bit not only the way this relationship ended, but how many have. People come and go in our lives and we have to recognize where they all come from: the Source. When we experience change, progress, growth in grace, and find new doors opening and others closing we can't hold on to what we've outgrown. I experienced a lot of spiritual growth that summer, and it came from letting go of my assumptions about myself and those who I had been in intimate relationships with in the past. I could never control another person or be controlled by another person. We really are made one in Mind, God. So I have no control over relationships if I go to this Source whenever I make mistakes or get frustrated or don't get what I think I want. God knows all of our true desires. Every relationship we ever have is really just a reflection of our relationship with God. This is a huge metaphysical breakthrough when you fully understand its implications. And I'm still learning those. But this song celebrates that "there is only one Mind conducting the symphony. So let the strings sing psalms like songs for eternity."

lyrics

I John 4:11-13
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures 275:20-24

This goes out to everybody who’s trying to be better at listening, loving, and feeling live.

[CHORUS]
I can see you,
can you see me?
I am in you,
you are in me.
We are one;
we are so loved.
We are one;
we are so loved.

There is only One Mind,
conducting the symphony.
Let the strings sing
psalms like songs
through eternity.

We are one;
We are so loved.
We are one;
We are so loved.

Explode the idea of Love,
balm it up in Gilead,
here comes the healing
from the heart, no man's an island.
Scream with with the silence,
grab the wheel like a pilot,
Excuse me, miss: Do you mind if I try this?
I'm trying to live my life more like a scientist.
So that means I must experiment with being righteous
Imagine my mind’s a candle, would you care to light it?
Cause I couldn't help but notice that you’re bright as fireworks.
And she said she was meditating,
contemplating levitating.
I was real intrigued and then we started resonating.
Talked about slumber parties,
Soul mates, and marrying.
Native Americans, Metaphysics, charities.
While the questions on tap never stopped pouring,
inside of me, something real close to truth was roaring.
What are you committing to?
Let's support each other
Not like a lover, but like sisters and brothers.

[CHORUS]

Limitless observations
make spiritual creations permanent.
I am not impatient
because I can relax
while I visit the past
with my eyes closed.
Pinpoint the
moment that I met you.
Can't regret, only reflect,
new-ness in my step.
Who else could revive me?
Yes, Soul the Physician.
Open up my mind see,
spiritual incisions.
Replace my fleeting falsities
with a new position.
Infinite possibilities,
an inception,
of life, love and peaceful perception.
From above
now I'm living freely -
I can love you and still I can be me.
See these histories?
dialectical rewriting
through the centuries.
Mentally adore yourself,
restore your health,
implore the twelve
candlesticks to stay lit by Spirit.
It's easy to shine
when you know it comes from one Mind.

[CHORUS]
